In short
- This website sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
- Fonts, images and scripts are served from this server. Nothing is loaded from advertising or social networks.
- Visits are counted with a self-hosted Plausible Analytics, without cookies and without user profiles.
- To deliver the pages, the web server has to process technical data, including your IP address.
Hosting and server logs
This website runs on a server in Germany. Each time a page is requested, the web server writes the following to a log file:
- IP address of the requesting device
- date and time of the request
- the address requested and the amount of data transferred
- status code of the response
- the page visited before (referrer), if your browser sends it
- browser and operating system (user agent)
I need this data to deliver the website, to keep it running safely and to detect and investigate attacks. It is not combined with other data and not used for marketing.
The legal basis is my legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log files are deleted after 14 days.
The connection between your browser and this website is encrypted (TLS/HTTPS).
Visitor statistics (Plausible Analytics)
To see how this website is used, I count page views with the open-source software Plausible Analytics. It runs on my own server in Germany (plausible.bearhost.de), from where your browser loads a small counting script. The data is not passed on to third parties.
Plausible sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It records the page viewed, the page visited before (referrer), browser, operating system and device type, and the country derived from the IP address.
Your IP address is not stored. The IP address, the browser identifier and a random value that changes every day are only used to compute an anonymous identifier that allows the visits of one day to be counted; the random value is deleted after 24 hours. You are therefore not recognised across several days or across websites, and no user profiles are created.
The legal basis is my legitimate interest in evaluating the use of this website in a privacy-friendly way (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Contact by email
If you write to me by email, I process your email address and the content of your message in order to answer you. The mailbox also runs on a server in Germany.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your message is about a project or a contract, otherwise my legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). I delete messages once they have been dealt with, unless statutory retention periods require me to keep them.
Links to other websites
This website links to projects and to other websites. Their operators are responsible for what happens there; data is only transferred to them when you follow a link.
Your rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- access to the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
Right to object: where I process data on the basis of legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you may object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR).
To exercise your rights, an email to the address above is enough. I do not use automated decision-making or profiling.
Complaints
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for me is:
